Thankfulness does not always come naturally. It can be easy to focus on what is missing instead of what has already been given. This week, take time to notice and remember what God has done, both in the past and in your own life. As you go through these devotionals, pay attention to the ways God has been at work around you. You may begin to discover that gratitude changes how you see your life and brings a deeper sense of joy.
DAILY CHALLENGE
Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.
• Before you eat any meal, add one thing to a list of things you’re thankful for. At the end of the week, you’ll be amazed at the little ways God has worked in your life.
• Text a different person each night, telling that person how thankful you are for them and their role in your life.
• Try to pause throughout the day each day to thank God for something you see, do, or experience.
FAITH JOURNAL
What has God done for you and around you this week that you want to remember?
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
Read Deuteronomy 8:18 with your family, and discuss the following questions:
• What can you remember that God has done for this family?
• How does God help our family stay strong?
• How can we show our gratitude for all that God has done for our family?
Take some time just for the purpose of thanking God. For example, your family might design and write thank-you cards to one another and to God, or you might compose a family song together to express gratitude for all that God has done.
