God Sends Plagues on Egypt

Bible Point:

God’s power is used to help us.

Key Verse:

“So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).

Big Picture:

God’s power is enough to meet us in our weakness and sustain us beyond our own strength.

God Sends Plagues on Egypt

Exodus 7:8-10:29

If you have spent a lot of time around church, it can be easy to feel like you have already heard these stories before. Familiar language about God’s power can start to feel distant or abstract. This week invites you to slow down and look again. The plagues in Egypt were not small or symbolic events. They were overwhelming, disruptive, and impossible to ignore. As you study them, imagine what that kind of power would feel like up close. Consider what it would mean for that same power to be present in your own life today. This study challenges you to move beyond surface-level familiarity and seriously consider how God’s power might meet you in real struggles, questions, and fears you are carrying right now.

DAILY CHALLENGE

Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.

• Whenever you charge your phone or other devices this week, take a few minutes to pray about God’s power. Ask God to recharge you.

• Have conversations with three older Christians you trust (parents, grandparents, youth leaders, siblings, or others) about how they have seen God’s power in their lives.

• Do at least one thing on your list from the “Strength Over Fear” activity to seek God’s power this week.

FAITH JOURNAL

When does God’s power seem not powerful enough? What can help you have faith in God’s power during those times?

TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY

Read Jeremiah 10:5-10 with your family. Then discuss these questions:

• What things compete for our trust or loyalty in our society today?

• How have these things (counterfeit gods) attempted to infiltrate your family?

• In what ways have you unnecessarily feared counterfeit gods?

• When have you seen God’s power triumph over counterfeit gods in the world? In the nation? In the community? At home?

Plan a time to watch the news together and find a story that shows a counterfeit god at work that could invoke fear. Discuss how God’s power can overcome it.
