Introduction

Nov 15, 2025

You probably get a lot of advice every day. At school, your teacher tells you what to do. At home, your family gives you instructions. If you play sports, your coach tells you how to play. Even TV, videos, and games send you messages about what you should do. Add to that what friends might say, and it can be hard to know who to listen to.

This week we will learn from Philip’s story in the Bible. God, through the Holy Spirit, guided Philip in what to do. God can guide you too. No matter what is going on, the Holy Spirit is ready to help you make good choices and lead you in the right way.

Planting the Seed:

Can you imagine having an angel come and tell  you what God wanted you to do? Well, that’s exactly  what happened to Philip. He’d been preaching to  these huge crowds, and now God wanted him to  go down a remote desert road. Philip did it—no  questions asked.

By following God, Philip could tell someone on  the road—an Ethiopian official—about Jesus.  This man, when he heard what Philip had to say  about Jesus, wanted to be baptized right away!  He was someone else who wanted to follow Christ  right away! Philip and the Ethiopian are excellent  examples of responding to God immediately.  Don’t you want to be like that, too?

Key Verse: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean  not on your own understanding; in all your ways  acknowledge him, and he will make your paths  straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

Bible Point: Follow where God leads.

Where He Leads

Talk as a family about times you’ve felt God leading  you and how you responded.

Ready, Set, Grow!

God leads us in many ways. Choose one of  these ways to seek God’s guidance in your life  this week:

• THINK about a situation where you know you can follow God better, and then pray and ask God to guide you.

• READ your Bible to find God’s guidance.  Some good places to start are the book of Proverbs and the “Growing in Truth” section on your take-home page.

• TALK to a trusted Christian about God’s guidance. Ask how he or she has been guided before and how you can begin to follow God in your own life.
