FRIDAY
Proverbs 12:22
As we come to the end of the week, we return again to the Key Verse that we began the week with. “The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful” (Proverbs 12:22). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about what it means to live with integrity and what truthfulness is about, how does this passage resonate with you on a deeper level? How does it shape the way you think about what it means to live as a truthful person? What are some of the ways that you sense Scripture (in the various places we see this illustrated), and Jesus (in the way truth is embodied), inviting us to live with greater integrity within the context of God’s love and grace?
• What new insights have you gained this week in terms of what genuinely embodied and lived integrity looks like?
• Where are the growing edges for you as you think about what it means to be truthful, not only technically, but relationally and personally as well?
• What is the difference between the contractual relationships we enter into and the covenant relationships we embrace? In what ways would you like to make changes?
• When you hear people say things like, “Just tell the truth, sometimes truth hurts,” what fundamental part of truth have they missed? (Note: That’s not to say that we don’t sometimes experience pain when we hear what is true, but when something is genuinely true, what we do not experience is cruelty, indifference, or disregard.)
• What questions do you have, or struggle with the most, when it comes to living with truth and integrity, and in a way that reflects what Jesus embodied?
• As you think back over your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you towards? As you prepare to enter more fully into your Sabbath experience this weekend, take a few moments to share with God in prayer what is on your heart.
