Galatians 5:1

• How do you know you’re free in Jesus?

It’s a Saturday night; my friends and I are gathered around the kitchen table playing board games and sipping sodas. “Why don’t we order a pizza?” My husband asks, ever the pizza-lover. The group is amenable, and within minutes an order is placed.

We continue to laugh and game until we hear the doorbell ring 30 minutes later. I volunteer to get the door, swinging it open with a goofy smile still plastered on my face from the hilarious round we were playing of Apples to Apples. Except when my line of vision isn’t filled with a 5-or-6 foot-something-man like I predicted, I realized something was amiss. Momentarily, I realized that it wasn’t the pizza guy, but instead, my neighbor’s thirteen-year-old daughter, Maisy.

Turns out, Maisy’s mom had sent her over to see if we had any sugar, because they were out. As I sent Maisy back to her house with a Ziploc bag of snowy granules, I saw the Domino’s car pull up. Ah, yes. This was whom we had sent for.

Paul says at the beginning of his letter to the Galatians: “Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead—and all the brothers and sisters with me.” Paul was sent by Jesus Christ himself to the people who needed him—in this case, the Galatians. Have you ever wondered where— or to whom—God is sending you in your life? God has a purpose for you, just like Paul had a purpose! One of the biggest privileges we have as Christians is to spread the healing, grace, and love of Jesus to everyone we come into contact with. Imagine being so entrenched in the love of Jesus that when you simply interact with other people, they feel happy! Or relieved? Or just…better! That’s the goal. Just like the Domino’s delivery guy, when you pull up on the scene, you will be happily received because you carry the love of Jesus with you.
