FRIDAY
2 Timothy 2:13
As we come to the end of the week, let’s return again to the Key Verse that we began the week with. “If we are faithless, he will remain faithful, for he cannot disown himself” (2 Timothy 2:13). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about this throughout the week, how does this passage speak more richly about the way God is faithful to us, even when we fall short in faithfulness? While sin had distorting effects on human characters, it did not change God’s character. God remained the same loving, gracious, faithful God. Because of this, our hope is secure. So while our situation may indeed be serious and concerning at times—and even though fearful responses may be our default setting—when God seeks us out, one thing we do not have to be is afraid. God, as revealed in Jesus, is someone we can trust.
• What new insights have you gained this week in terms of how God is with us, and how he would like us to experience him being with us?
• Where are the growing edges for you as you think about more fully embracing and embodying what it means to live without fear?
• What questions do you have, or struggle with the most, when it comes to knowing in your heart as well as your head that, in God’s presence, you don’t have to be afraid?
• What do you think about the significance of knowing that sin may have changed us, but it did not change God, and that God looks like Jesus?
• As you think back over your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you towards?
