Introduction
Planting the Seed:
When Jesus began telling people that He would suffer and die, Peter spoke out against it. Knowing that Satan was the source of Peter’s wrong thinking, Jesus said, “Get behind me, Satan!” Peter didn’t want Jesus to die, but Jesus knew He had to…for us.
So, if you want to follow Jesus and be committed to Him, Jesus tells you exactly what you must do. He said to take up your cross and follow Him. We can be proud of following Jesus!
Key Verse: “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile” (Romans 1:16).
Bible Point: Commit to follow Jesus.
Sharing Faith:
As a family, talk about times you’ve talked about your relationship with Jesus with someone else. How did they respond? Also, talk about times you haven’t shared your story about Jesus. What were some reasons for not sharing when you felt like you wanted to? The more honest we are about these feelings, the more likely we can become comfortable sharing in the future. Discuss ways to help one another share about Jesus without being ashamed, and pray for one another.
