People Rejoice as Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Bible Point:

Jesus is our king.

Key Verse:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).

Big Picture:

Explore ways to respond to Jesus as your king.

People Rejoice as Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Mark 11:1-11

Think about the times you’ve felt closest to God— maybe during a retreat, camp, or mission trip. Those “mountaintop” moments feel amazing, but faith isn’t meant to stay there. The challenge is to bring that same attitude of worship and closeness into your everyday life: at school, at home, and with friends. As we study this week, remember that Jesus is with you every day and is king over every situation you face.

DAILY CHALLENGE

• Choose one name for Jesus and reflect on it this week. Consider how you can live your life in recognition of who Jesus is.

• Praise Jesus using one of the ideas you came up with in the “Roll Play” activity. Try to praise him as much as you can this week!

• Is there an area of your life in which you’ve been trying to control on only your terms? Pray and commit that to Jesus’ authority.

FAITH JOURNAL

Describe a king. How does that description fit who Jesus is to you?

TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY

Read Revelation 4:1-11 with your family. Then discuss these questions together:

• Compare this scene with the one in Jerusalem during the Triumphal Entry.

• Why does Jesus deserve this kind of honor?

• What do you think of the fact that the 24 elders lay their crowns before the throne?

Get some paper, and have everyone draw a crown. Each person can write on the crown something he or she wants to lay before Jesus’ authority. Cut out the crowns, and use them to bookmark Revelation 4 as a symbol of recognizing Jesus as king over what you each wrote.
