• What has God promised His children?

Have you ever done the science experiment with a liter of Diet Coke and Mentos?

Spoiler, if you haven’t: put a few Mentos candy pieces in a Diet Coke, and it will erupt dramatically. The liquid will burst up like a European fountain, and you’ll spend the next hour scrubbing the floors in the kitchen because you underestimated the potency of the flow (speaking from experience).

God’s love is described sort of like the explosive meeting of Mentos and Diet Coke: “See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are!” (1 John 3:1-2).

Not only is God’s love lavished on us, 1 Thessalonians 3:12 encourages us to generously pour God’s excessive love on one another: “May the Lord cause you to increase and overflow with love for one another.”
