- Why did David have so much courage?

Nelson Mandela, a political leader from South Africa who fiercely opposed unjust apartheid, famously said: “I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.”

I think a misconception about being brave is that a brave person doesn’t experience fear. On the contrary, one of my favorite quotes says, “Do it scared,” meaning that even the most intimidating things can be accomplished while trembling in fear.
