• How are you living for God as a free person?

We live for God as free people when we choose to follow God freely, not because we are forced to. For a long time, my relationship with God was purely based on trying my best not to get in trouble with my mom. Completing my Pathfinder assignments, making sure I was ready for church on time, and praying before I ate—these were checklists that I kept to ensure my mom wouldn’t reprimand me. Things turned around for me in high school when I decided to let go of pleasing everyone else and seek what it means to please God. It was liberating because it wasn’t about trying to do things to earn God’s love; it was about living in the love God already has for me. When we switch from obligation to anticipation, we begin to love more easily.
