FRIDAY
SCRIPTURE: 1 John 5:12
As we come to the end of the week, let’s return to the Key Verse we began the week with. “He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life” (1 John 5:12). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about this throughout the week, how does this passage speak with richer meaning about what having the Son and finding life often look like, and who is included in that statement?
• What new insights have you gained this week about how the people that often are missed or not fully considered are included among those who have the Son and embraced the life the Son offers? How does the way God includes those whom others exclude give us a clearer picture of God’s actual family?
• Where are the growth opportunities for you as you think about what it means for you to not only include those who some may wish to keep on the margins, but also to affirm them and their place in the family of God?
• In what ways have you come to better understand how having the Son impacts not just how you relate to God, but also how you relate to others?
• What are some of the ways we might be able to more fully live out, and offer to others, the life that the Son offers to us? What would be different if we were to grasp this more fully? What kind of steps could we take to move closer to this?
• As you think through your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you toward? Continue to reflect as you prepare for Sabbath as a time for celebrating and deepening your experience of faith.
