The Israelites Escape From Egypt
Exodus 11:1-12:36
It is normal to pay close attention to what friends think and do. The people around you often shape how you see faith, whether you realize it or not. When friends take faith seriously, that can be encouraging and helpful. At the same time, faith is not meant to stay at the group level only. There are moments when following God requires personal honesty, courage, and choice. That might look like admitting areas of weakness, asking hard questions, or taking a step of obedience that no one else sees. This week invites you to examine your own faith. Not what your friends believe, and not what you think you are supposed to believe, but what you truly trust and wrestle with. Real freedom begins when faith becomes personal.
DAILY CHALLENGE
Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.
• Read Romans 1-8. It’ll make you think—a lot— and it talks about the freedom we find through a relationship with Jesus. Write down your observations and questions.
• Make a list of things you appreciate about Jesus’ sacrifice to set you free. Share the list and explain today’s study to a friend who missed this session.
• What are the sins that keep you from finding freedom in Christ? Confide in a trusted Christian mentor or friend and pray together this week, if you feel safe doing so.
FAITH JOURNAL
What’s holding you back from experiencing true freedom in Jesus?
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
Read Romans 6:15–18 together. Then, using a piece of string, loosely wrap one wrist (or both wrists lightly) for a few minutes as a symbol of restriction. During this time, talk together about what it means to feel limited or controlled by something. You don’t need to try doing normal activities—this is just a brief, visual reminder.
Discuss these questions:
• What did it feel like to have even a small restriction on your movement?
• In what ways does sin or unhealthy patterns limit people’s freedom?
• According to Romans 6, what two kinds of “slavery” does Paul describe?
• How can being a “slave to righteousness” actually lead to freedom?
Afterward, remove the string together and thank God for the freedom found in Jesus. Close by asking God to help each person choose the kind of life that leads to true freedom.
