SOLOMON TELLS OF JESUS' COMING

Bible Point:

Jesus does great things.

Key Verse:

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus”

(1 Timothy 2:5).

Big Picture:

Reflect on Jesus’ actions in your life.

Solomon Tells of Jesus’ Coming

Psalm 72:1-19

When you were little, you probably already had ideas about who Jesus is and what Jesus does. Some of those ideas may have been right, but they weren’t the whole picture. Now that you’re older, you can dig into the Bible for yourself and discover even more about who Jesus really is.

This week, you’ll get the chance to look at promises made long before Jesus was born—prophecies about the amazing things the Messiah would do. You’ll explore how those promises came true in Jesus’ life and what that means for you today. By the end of the week, you’ll have a bigger, clearer picture of who Jesus is and why following him matters.

PLANTING THE SEED

David wrote much of the book of Psalms. But not everyone knows that Solomon also wrote some of Psalms. Psalm 72 is one Solomon may have written. The psalm paints a picture of what the Kingdom of God looks like! No other king in the Bible has created such a kingdom, except for Jesus! Today’s Key Verse reminds us of what Jesus does for us as the mediator between God and us. And in response, we can worship him! (Psalm 72:1-19)

• What great things does Jesus do for us?

• What’s so important about what Jesus does?

• How can we respond to what Jesus does for us?

FAMILY FUN

As a family, take a tour of your home looking for ways that you know Jesus does great things. For example, you can walk up to a family photo and say, “Jesus did a great thing in making our family.” Go to every room of the house—including the garage and yard, if you have them—to look for how Jesus does great things. Then compare your observations with the great things Solomon predicted that Jesus would do in Psalm 72:1-19.

READY, SET, GROW!

Express your faith in worship to God this week:

• SET aside time this week to reflect upon the great things Jesus is doing in your life. Commit to making it the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing you think about at night.

• MAKE some time each day to simply talk to Jesus. Ask him for the things that are on your heart, and ask Jesus to help you see the great things he has planned for your life.

• COME up with a way you can give Jesus thanks for his love for you. Journal, write a poem, talk to yourself—whatever you want—just reflect for an hour or so on Jesus’ love for you. Then take time to thank him for his incredible love.
