INTRODUCTION
PETER TELLS THE SANHEDRIN ABOUT JESUS
Bible Point - Trusting God makes us brave.
Key Verse - “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)
Big Picture - Examine how you can be courageous and discuss the things God might be able to do through you with your courage.
Peter Tells the Sanhedrin About Jesus
Acts 4:5–14
Sometimes it can feel like nothing can touch you, like you're invincible. That kind of confidence can push you to take risks, especially if it means impressing others. But real courage doesn’t come from what people think of you. This week, we’re exploring what it means to live fully for Jesus. Life might change when you choose that path, but what never changes is God's love for you. And in that love, you’ll find a kind of strength and security that really is unshakable.
GROWING IN TRUTH
DAILY CHALLENGE
- Invite a friend or family member who doesn’t often attend youth group, church, or Bible study to come with you.
- Stand up for someone who is being picked on at school. It can be as simple as suggesting that others leave them alone or sitting with someone who always eats alone. Or it could be something more. Ask God for strength and courage as you do this.
- Get to work on your courage list—trust in God to help you do one thing you wrote.
FAITH JOURNAL
How can you use the courage that comes to you through the Holy Spirit?
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
Read 1 Peter 3:13–18 with your family, and discuss these questions:
- Peter wrote these words—the same Peter from today’s Bible passage. How does his attitude demonstrate continued courage?
- Which things that Peter talks about in this passage would require you to gain the most courage?
- How can we have courage in the midst of suffering?
Have each family member share something they need courage to do. Then practice doing those courageous things together—practice telling a friend about Jesus, standing up for what’s right, or whatever else you name.
