Scripture: Daniel 6:7–12

- Where is God calling you to be bold? How can you gain the courage to do this, even if it feels as if you’re alone?

I ran my first 10K race a month ago. Running is a good thing, but even good things can be intimidating. What scared me the most was the potential of looking bad and finishing with an embarrassing time. I hesitated to register, but some friends committed to doing the race with me, so I ended up signing up. I was still terrified of race day, but I wanted to be less scared. I had to do something with what I had control over, so I began to run. Three times a week, sometimes twice, sometimes only once, I just knew I wanted to commit myself to moving more than I usually did. The next thing I knew, I was moving a little faster and a little more confidently. The race came up, and I finished the 10K faster than I could have ever imagined. My courage came from the support of friends and recognizing that God has given me the ability to do difficult things. If we are able, we should try our best, knowing that God is rooting for us.
