Solomon Tells of Jesus’ Coming

Psalm 72:1-19

Sometimes it feels easier to say, “It’s not my fault!” and blame someone else instead of taking responsibility for what we do. But that’s not the best way to handle things. When people have a problem, they often need a helper, someone who listens to both sides and helps make things right.

That’s called a mediator. You might not use that word much, but you probably know what it means! This week, we learned that Jesus is the best helper of all. Because He always does what is right and fair, He is the perfect mediator between us and God. Jesus makes a way for us to be close to God, even when we’ve messed up.

GROWING IN TRUTH

PLANTING THE SEED

The Bible tells us a lot about Jesus, even in the Old Testament. Today’s Bible passage tells us who Jesus is and what He will do when He comes. This Psalm shows us that Jesus is righteous and just. It tells us He will be around forever, that He “will rule from sea to sea,” and that kings and nations will bow down to Him.

Jesus is pretty awesome, but one of the best things He does for us is to act as a mediator between God and us! Because of Jesus, we can talk to and listen to God!

FAMILY FUN

Some evening this week, gather your family for a fun game about doing good—just like Jesus did! Ask each family member to think of a way your family could do something kind or helpful together. It could be making a card for someone who’s sick, baking a treat to share with a neighbor, picking up litter at a park, or calling someone who might be lonely. Have each person write their idea on an index card (no peeking!). Take turns giving clues while the rest of the family tries to guess what’s on your card. The first idea guessed is the good

deed your family will do together that night. Want to do more? Play again on another night so everyone gets a turn!

READY, SET, GROW!

This week, children committed to praying about a situation they need Jesus to mediate. Help your child grow in faith this week and follow through on this commitment!
