An Unlikely Mouthpiece

As the Israelites continued to follow God, they encountered repeated opposition from the nations around them. Yet with God’s help, they also experienced victory in battle. Those victories did not go unnoticed. For the surrounding nations, Israel’s success became a source of fear. In Balaam’s story, that fear leads the king of Moab to seek a curse against God’s people by summoning a prophet. Through this narrative, we are invited to consider what spiritual blindness looks like, what it means to have access to God without a fully yielded heart, and how God can choose to speak through unexpected people and unexpected means.
