FRIDAY
SCRIPTURE: 1 Chronicles 16:8
As we come to the end of the week, let’s return to the invitation to remember in the Key Verse that we began the week with: “Give thanks to the Lord, call on his name; make known among the nations what he has done” (1 Chronicles 16:8). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about this throughout the week, how does this passage speak with richer meaning about what it means to remember who God is and what God has done? In what ways do you see the invitation to remember well embedded in this verse?
• In what ways is the posture of “giving thanks” at the heart of what God invites us to remember? Explain.
• Since “God’s Name” in Scripture is always tied to an expression of God’s loving and gracious character, what do you think “calling on his name” would look like in a life where remembering is central?
• What kinds of things would we have to share with the nations? What would sharing this with the nations look like?
• What are the key things that you think you would need to intentionally remember in order to live the way the Key Verse describes: a life of gratefulness in which God’s character is made known to the world around us? Take a few moments to contemplate what that would look like.
• As you reflect on your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you towards? Continue to reflect as you prepare for Sabbath and the opportunity to enter fully into what it means to genuinely “remember” the Sabbath.
