Balaam’s Donkey Talks

Numbers 22:1-38

We live in a world of constant distractions. Multitasking feels normal. Texting while watching a show, scrolling during conversations, and switching between multiple devices at once are common. It can feel productive, but trying to do everything at the same time often means not being fully present anywhere. This week’s study invites you to slow down, set aside the noise, and create space to truly pay attention to God and what God may be saying to you.

DAILY CHALLENGE

Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.

• Take photos of God Sightings throughout the week. Look through your photos at the end of the week, and consider what God might be trying to tell you through how you’ve seen God at work.

• Initiate a conversation with a parent/guardian or trusted adult about how they have seen God at work in their life.

• Spend 10 minutes each day being quiet—no music, no talking, nothing—and practice trying to listen to God.

FAITH JOURNAL

What captures your attention? How can you pay attention to God in the same way?

TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY

Read Isaiah 42:18-20 with your family. Watch a short movie clip, TV show, YouTube video, or anything else that no one in your family has seen before. To do so, have some family members plug their ears so they can’t hear it, others close their eyes so they can’t see it, and others watch normally. Afterward, share what you noticed in the video. Then discuss these questions as a family:

• What difference did being blind or deaf make to the way you paid attention to the video?

• In what ways can people be blind or deaf to God?

• In what ways have you neglected to pay attention to and listen to God?
