TUESDAY
Isaiah 9:6
• How can Jesus offer you peace?
Back in first grade, when the popular thing was to figure out what your name meant, all of my friends were arriving at school with exciting new updates. Matthew informed us that his name meant “Gift of God.” Alex, with his chest puffed out, told us his name meant “Defender.” Jenny had discovered her name meant “fair lady.”
And so, of course, I found myself on Google that night, searching online for the desired answer. What would my name mean? “Dragon-slayer”? “Brilliant prodigy”? “Playground legend”?
“Peaceful Island.” That is what Lindsey means. Disappointed, I begrudgingly reported back to my friends the next day. Their faces said it all: peace was lame. Now, I think peace is absolutely invaluable. I can’t say I’m the greatest representative of my name, with my chronic anxiety and recurring spiraling sessions. But one thing I do finally have peace about now, at almost 30 years old, is Jesus.
I want that for you, too, dear reader. Peace is yours if you are in Jesus. It’s that simple! It’s not always easy to feel peace, but reminders from the Bible help me to recenter in the peace I know I’m entitled to—even when I don’t always feel at peace! Go in peace today, knowing that you are in Jesus.
