• What’s the importance of light in this verse?

I used to be terrified of the dark. Key words are “used to.” But this fear has given me a certain perspective whenever the Bible talks about light and darkness. For me, light has become more than being able to see; it is the presence of safety. All those scary movies and shows I watched (that my mother warned me about) made me paranoid that things from the darkness would come to harm me, and so whenever there was light, I felt safe to sleep. While light does the obvious thing of helping us see, when we think about it personally, the importance of light can mean something more beautiful to every one of us.
