People Rejoice as Jesus Enters Jerusalem
Mark 11:1-11
You might have people you look up to, like athletes, singers, or superheroes. It is fun to have heroes, but not everyone we see in the world is a good example to follow. This week, you will learn about the best role model of all, Jesus. By listening to the stories and thinking about how Jesus lived, you will see that Jesus is kind, loving, and always good. Jesus invites everyone to follow and learn from that example every day. When you follow Jesus, you are choosing the best kind of hero and building a strong faith for the future.
PLANTING THE SEED
All of Jerusalem was excited! The people had heard a lot about Jesus, and now they were going to get to meet Him! Jesus had to get into town some way, so why not on a colt? So he told two of his disciples to go get one—and to get one that had never been ridden before. If people asked any questions, the disciples were to tell them, “The Lord needs it.” And you know what? People did ask. The disciples told them exactly what Jesus told them to say, and the people let them have the colt! The disciples brought the colt to Jesus and spread their coats on its back. Jesus sat on the colt and rode into Jerusalem. The people spread their clothes along the road. Others waved palm branches. They shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.” All along the way, people were happy and praising God.
