SOLOMON TELLS OF JESUS' COMING

Bible Point:

Jesus does great things.

Key Verse:

“For there is one God and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5).

Big Picture:

Remember great things Jesus has done and consider the difference He is making and will make in your life.

Solomon Tells of Jesus’ Coming

Psalm 72:1-19

You live in a world where you can fact-check almost anything in seconds. If you hear something, you can pull out your phone, search it up, and usually find photos, videos, or articles that prove whether it’s real. Because of that, people today often say, “I’ll believe it when I see it.”

That makes the miracles in the Bible harder to imagine. Without videos or pictures, it’s easy to wonder if they really happened. You might accept the Bible as true, but still struggle to feel the same sense of awe that people had when they actually witnessed those miracles.

This week, we’re diving into how the incredible things Jesus did weren’t random—they were spoken about long before Jesus even came to earth. And those great acts aren’t just stories from the past. They point to the great things God is still doing in the world right now.

GROWING IN TRUTH

DAILY CHALLENGE

Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.

• Set aside time each day to reflect upon the great things Jesus has done in your life. Commit to making it the first thing you think about in the morning and the last thing you think about at night.

• Make some time this week to simply talk to God. Ask him for the things that are on your heart, and ask God to help you know what great things are in store for your life. Let God surprise you!

• Come up with a way you can thank God for the love God has for you. Journal, write a poem, talk to yourself—whatever you want—just reflect for an hour or so on God’s love for you. Then take time to be thankful for God’s incredible love.

FAITH JOURNAL

How confident are you that Jesus will do what you ask him to do in your life?

TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY

Discuss these questions with your family:

• What are some things Jesus has done for our family that stand out in your mind?

• How do we typically express our thanksgiving to Jesus for all these things? Why?

Read Psalm 63:2-5 with your family, and discuss the following questions:

• What could we do to thank Jesus even more consistently for His goodness to us?

• What great thing does our family most need Jesus to do?

Take a “praise walk” with your family. Walk through your home. As you see things that remind you of God’s goodness to your family, stop briefly and offer God a one-sentence prayer of thanksgiving. For example, a trophy won in an athletic competition could inspire you to praise God for strength and athletic ability. A dress in a closet could remind you of a happy occasion. A memento could remind you of a vacation that featured a great conversation about faith that ultimately led a family member to commit to Christ. End the walk outside, looking up at the sky and praying a prayer of thanksgiving, expressing your thanks for God’s goodness and what it has meant to each family member.
