John 8:36

As we come to the end of the week, let’s return again to the Key Verse that we began the week with. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed” (John 8:36). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about what it means to be set free from what binds us and embrace the freedom God offers, how does this passage speak more richly about living in a way that reflects this? What are some of the ways that you still feel the tug of what tries to bind you and prevent you from fully experiencing the freedom that God offers?

• What new insights have you gained this week in terms of the ties that bind us in unhelpful ways, and the ties that God offers that reflect the embrace of love in the family of God?

• Where are the growing edges for you as you think about what it means not only to shake off the things that bind us, but also to open yourself more fully to the grace that embraces you and sets you free?

• What are the kinds of things that bind you the most that you would like to let go of and allow to fall away?

• What do you imagine living more freely this week would look like for you? Take a few moments to allow that picture to come more into focus. Perhaps you can plan a few things that will help you begin to experience this more fully?

• As you think back over your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you towards? As you prepare to enter into your Sabbath experience this weekend, take a few moments to share with God in prayer what is on your heart.
