• How can you respond to the way Jesus loves you?

The famous Golden Rule says, “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.” Now, this verse could have a negative application if you feel like you don’t care how people treat you. Some of us have gone through so much and been hurt so often that a verse like this may not encourage someone to show love.

But 1 John 4:19 says that we love because God loved us first. We don’t love because we have received love from people around us. After all, that doesn’t always happen. We love because Jesus loves us, and that is constant. We respond to the way Jesus loves us by loving others, even the difficult people. Who are the people around you who require love?
