• How do you know when God is speaking to you?

There’s a popular term that goes, “Trust your gut.” Sometimes people will tell us not to do that because there is an understanding in Christianity that our first instinct is to want to do bad things, but God’s love pierces through constantly. When we are at the border of doing something that is not the best of us, that gut feeling telling us to readjust is God speaking. Whenever we have that feeling that we should do better for ourselves, that is God speaking. And the more we listen to that nudge to do better, the clearer that guidance gets for us when we are making choices. God will never leave us, and even when we want to do our own thing, God’s will continues to nudge us to go toward whatever is life-giving.
