People Rejoice as Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Bible Point:

Jesus is our king.

Key Verse:

“That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Philippians 2:10-11).

Big Picture:

Practice honoring and understanding Jesus as their king.

People Rejoice as Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Mark 11:1-11

Advertisements for teens are some of the most powerful ones out there. They often highlight people who are famous, talented, or flashy—and it can be easy to look up to those kinds of heroes. This week, you’ll see that Jesus deserves our honor for a completely different reason. Jesus isn’t great because of popularity or fame, but because Jesus is the Messiah and the true King. As you study, you’ll have the chance to celebrate and praise Jesus as your King.

TRY THIS

Think about the ways people are honored. For instance, people stand up when a judge or the president of the country walks in the room. As a family, talk about how God deserves to be more greatly honored than any person. Decide on one obvious way you’ll honor God this week—for instance, before eating, stand up as a family and pray together.

DAILY CHALLENGE

• THINK about a celebrity you or a lot of your friends are into. Take some time praising Jesus for being better than that celebrity.

• HANG up your Eyewitness Accounts picture, and praise Jesus throughout the week whenever you see it.

• THINK of an area of your life where you’ve been trying to take the lead. Honor Jesus as your king by letting him truly reign in that area.
