What does living generously look like? Now that we know this is what we should be doing in response to God’s graciousness, how do we get started? In today’s passage, Jesus gives us some helpful direction so we don’t get off the wrong foot. As you take a few moments to listen to what Jesus has to say about what our giving should be like, here are a few things to contemplate as you read and reflect:

- How can we make our generosity all about us instead of all about the people we seek to care for?

- How can giving that becomes overly concerned about the giver and what they are getting out of it harm those who receive what we are giving? How might it also inflict harm upon ourselves and what we represent?

- What is different about the experience of helping others in such a way that everyone knows and helping others in a way that may only be between you and God?

- What parts of this passage resonate with you? In what way? Take a few moments to talk with God about this in prayer.
