Psalm 46:1

As we come to the end of the week, let’s return again to the Key Verse that we began the week with. “God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about what it means for God to be a place of refuge, our strength, and ever-present to us, how does this passage speak more richly about living in the hope and assurance that comes from this? What are some of the ways that living more fully in this awareness shape how we live and go about what we do?

• What new insights have you gained this week in terms of what it means to know that God is indeed with us in every situation we find ourselves in, and always will be?

• Where are the growing edges for you as you think about what it means to live in the awareness of God’s constant, faithful companionship with us?

• What imagery has been particularly helpful to you this week as you have contemplated not only the way that God never leaves us or forsakes us, but also the way that God wants to be with us? For additional reflection, compare this imagery with the prayer that Jesus prays in John 17.

• As you think back over your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you towards? As you prepare to enter more fully into your Sabbath experience this weekend, take a few moments to share with God in prayer what is on your heart.
