1 Timothy 2:4 offers us a glimpse into the open heart of God: “This is good, and pleases God our Savior, who wants all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth.” This is God’s desire, that all people would come to know the truth.
Throughout the Bible, we see that this journey to truth can unfold in different ways. Sometimes, it’s a slow, deliberate process. Other times, God is revealed so powerfully that the truth becomes undeniable. The story of the Ethiopian eunuch is one of those dynamic encounters—a man intentionally pursued by God, who receives the truth willingly and without hesitation. But this story is also layered. It teaches us about who we include and welcome into our spaces of worship. It challenges our assumptions about worthiness, belonging, and spiritual equality.
In this study, we’ll explore some of the nuances that emerge when we take a closer look at the life and personhood of the Ethiopian eunuch—and what his story reveals about the heart of God.
