What’s in a Name?

Neuroscience reminds us that the words we speak to ourselves shape us, including the names we carry and the labels spoken over us. They influence the identity we inhabit. In biblical times, the naming of a child held deep significance. Names often captured a moment in time, an encounter with God, a hope for the future, or the spiritual posture of the parents. In Leah’s story, the names of her sons reveal the internal wrestling and transformation taking place within her. Each name offers a window into her longing, her pain, and the growing trust she develops in God. Her experience teaches us what it means to find trust and satisfaction in God, even when our circumstances feel painful or unfavorable. In this study, we will explore how to anchor ourselves not in the validation we seek from the world around us, but in the certainty we receive from God.
