FRIDAY
SCRIPTURE: Philippians 4:19
As we come to the end of the week, let’s return to the Key Verse we began the week with. “And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about this throughout the week, how does this passage speak with richer meaning about the provision God provides for us, often in unexpected and surprising ways?
• What new insights have you gained this week as you think about the various ways that God provides for us, and what God’s provision means?
• Where are the growth opportunities for you as you think about what it means to trust in the God who provides—both in terms of giving what may seem like “not enough” to God, and in terms of what we might experience as a result?
• In what ways have you come to better understand faith as more about responding to what God has done rather than something we do in order to get God’s attention or something in return? How might the Key Verse be understood more clearly this way?
• How does this verse, and the other passages we have reflected upon as well, give you guidance or insight as you go about the task of trusting in the God who provides in the midst of a world that resists God’s willingness to do so? What is helpful to you as you seek to live faithfully in the “already, but not yet” place that we find ourselves in as we seek to live out the life of the Kingdom in a world that often rejects it?
• As you think through your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you toward? Continue to reflect as you prepare for Sabbath as a time for celebrating and deepening your experience of faith.
