CONCLUSION, REFLECT, CHALLENGE
CONCLUSION
The idea of God “testing” us can feel crude, even manipulative and overwhelming. But what if we reframed testing not as a trap designed to expose our lack and punish us, but as a way to reveal the truth of our hearts while offering the provision and solutions we need, just as God did when providing the ram in Isaac’s place? The comfort for us is this: God never calls us into a difficult situation without a plan or a purpose. Even when the outcome is hidden, God often leaves us with reminders through fulfilled promises, familiar words, or repeated calls that we are never sent out alone. He walks with us in every step of the journey.
REFLECT
Our study this week suggests that God’s test was meant to reveal Abraham to himself. How might God be revealing you to yourself in the challenges you face right now?
CHALLENGE
Journal Prompt: Which aspect of this week’s lesson stood out most, and why?
• Was it the emotional weight of God’s words: “your son… your only son… whom you love… Isaac”? Do you sense God placing His finger on something in your life that you may be holding too tightly?
• Was it the phrase, Here I am? Do you recognize ways you might be placing something or someone on the same level as God?
• Or was it lekh lekha? Do you sense God calling you into something deeper, a new season, a new position, or a new way of being with yourself?
Take some time in prayer and meditation. Journal your response to the prompt.
