Tuesday
There was an old country song that was popular when I was a teenager. I don’t remember the title or artist, but the song sang something like this: “I’m hard to love, hard to love / Oh, I don’t make it easy / I couldn’t do it if I stood where you stood.”
The hardest people to love typically don’t sing anthems like this. We’re not typically self-aware about our own weaknesses or failures. I have people like this in my life who are on the “hard to love” list. I’m sure you do too.
It would be easier if we only had to love people we liked, right? But that is not the way of the kingdom, and for good reason! Because we all are hard to love at times. I want you to go out of your way this week to love that person on your “hard to love” list. Not only because it’s the right thing to do, but because God has done the same for us.
What does this teach you about loving people? Who is it hardest for you to love?
