Tuesday
Back when everyone was on Zoom, my students and I were engaging in Sabbath School one week in a lively debate about… mullets. Yes, you read that right. I’m the kind of youth pastor who routinely gets dragged down rabbit holes if they’re interesting enough, and this discussion was exactly that. Team Mullet argued the fashion statement the hairstyle made, and Team Anti-Mullet advocated for the reasonable dismissal of the mullet after the 1970s. After ample heated conversation, Jake, the leader of Team Mullet, announced a bold idea: “What if we all got matching mullets?” Gasps erupted in the call. “And then,” he continued, “when we walk around town, people will know we’re from the same youth group. They’ll know us by our mullets!”
The Bible says there will be one identifier above all else that will show us to be Jesus-followers. It’s not how we vote, the clothes we wear, how much money we give, or…our mullets. This is how the world will know that we are Jesus’ disciples: by our love for one another.
• How can you show love to others throughout this week?
