Psalm 30:1-3

• What are some of the ways that God has helped you or healed you recently?

I was sitting in the Nature Center of my new summer home: Camp Mohaven in Ohio. Nurse Kathy had come for the day to get my fellow knuckleheaded counselors and me certified in First Aid. As she instructed us on the proper procedures for wound cleaning, the Heimlich maneuver, and a myriad of other useful medical practices, I found myself in a proper panic. How was I supposed to remember all of these things? I wasn’t a doctor! I was a 17-year-old who got a zit on my earlobe last Thursday. How was I supposed to be responsible for saving the lives of children?!

Luckily, I never had to practice any of these procedures on anyone. Summer camp came and went with minimal injuries and accidents. I was grateful that I never had to step in as a makeshift amateur doctor.

Healing is hard. There are many illnesses that no human being is capable of healing. There are diseases that have no vaccines, no medicine, no remedy to alleviate symptoms. God is called “Healer” multiple times in Scripture. I think it’s because the writers of the Bible know deeply the spiritual relief that God’s healing brings. What would you like God to begin healing today?
