TUESDAY
Psalm 103:2-5
• What things has God done for you to take care of you?
Do you have that one friend who seems to remember everything?
My best friend from high school, Rachel, has such a sterling memory that sometimes, when I can’t remember a name or event, I’ll call Rachel, who has it readily available for me like my own personal encyclopedia. We’re a little past ten years removed from high school, but she can recall our classmates’ names, dislikes, and quirks like she met up with them yesterday.
Me, on the other hand? Forever forgetful.
The psalmist writes in Psalm 103: “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” I don’t know about you, but my forgetfulness isn’t just about high school memories. Oftentimes, my forgetfulness seeps into my faith as well. I forget the goodness of God in moments of high anxiety. I forget God’s endless blessings when someone cuts me off in traffic. It’s easy to forget God’s “benefits” when we’re chronically focusing on the immediate.
Can we become memorizers of God’s faithfulness? What if we studied God’s blessings? Tattooed God’s love on the membranes of our heart—permanently remembered and revered?
The more we memorize God’s benefits, the better our lives will be. “Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all his benefits.”
