The Woman Who Met Christ in the Light
At first glance, Nicodemus’s encounter with Jesus and the Samaritan woman’s encounter at the well may appear to be two completely separate stories. Yet John’s decision to place these accounts side-by-side suggests that they are meant to be read together. The contrast is intentional.
As we continue our study of unlikely messengers, we will examine the story of the woman who met Christ in the light and compare her experience with the man who met Christ in the darkness. Through their stories, we are reminded that God often works through the people we least expect, and that a willing heart is far more important than status, reputation, or religious credentials.
