FOR DISCUSSION

Oct 24, 2026

• BEFORE Jesus tells the parable, why do you think the expert in the law asks, “Who is my neighbor?” What assumptions might be hidden within that question?

• THE priest and the Levite both see the wounded man but choose not to help. What are some possible reasons someone might avoid getting involved in another person’s suffering?

• WHY do you think Jesus chose a Samaritan, rather than a priest or Levite, to be the hero of the story? How might that have challenged His audience?

• AT the end of the story, Jesus doesn’t answer the question, “Who is my neighbor?” Instead, He asks, “Which of these became a neighbor?” Why do you think Jesus changes the question?

• WHAT does becoming a neighbor look like in our own lives today? Who might God be inviting us to see differently or love more intentionally?
