INTRODUCTION
God Sends Quail and Manna
Bible Point:
God provides what we need and invites us to live in trust.
Key Verse:
“You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever” (Psalm 23:5-6).
Big Picture:
Thank God for meeting our needs.
God Sends Quail and Manna
Exodus 16:1-26
Where do people look for what they need, and how are those needs are met? Through Scripture and conversation, you will explore a story of God providing and hopefully take time to notice the ways provision shows up in everyday life. As the week goes on, consider what it might mean to see God as a source worth trusting and what it looks like to rely on God one day at a time.
DAILY CHALLENGE
Choose one or more of these Daily Challenges to do this week.
• Keep a prayer journal that documents specific requests that God has answered. Write in it every day this week.
• Every time you eat this week, thank God for providing food for you. When you get dressed, thank God for providing clothes. When you shower, thank God for clean water. Look for other regular habits for which you can thank God for this provision.
• Using each letter of the alphabet, come up with a list of 26 things that God has provided for you. Example: A—air, B—brother, C—cash, and so on.
FAITH JOURNAL
How does God meet your needs? What is your response?
TALK WITH YOUR FAMILY
As a family, read James 1:17. Then discuss these questions together.
• What are some good and perfect gifts God has given us?
• Why might we forget to give God credit for those things?
• How can we appreciate his gifts more this week?
Get a bunch of gift tags (or scraps of wrapping paper), and list on them things God has given you. Then hide the gift tags around the house. As you find them this week, thank God for his good and perfect gifts.
