I have a friend who is an amazing gift-giver. She knows exactly what to get to make me feel seen and known. One year, she got me a comic book of a series that I literally only mentioned once around her. She just always knows. But her dedication intimidates me when it’s time to get her gifts because I always feel like what I get her won’t be as intentional or deeply thought-through as her gifts. What has been nice is that no matter what I get her, she is happy because I tried my best. It can be challenging to think about what we can give to God, our God who is perfect, amazing, eternal, and loving. And even though God is so great, the greatest gift we can give is our intentionality. It does not have to imitate anyone else; it does not have to resemble how pastors do it. Just be intentional in the way that makes the most sense to you, and God will be honored!
