Proverbs 3:5-6
• How can you trust God in a new way?
Standing on top of the truck, I looked behind me at my classmates. Senior Survival, a week of camping with my fellow seniors, had been a series of exercises in group bonding and trust. We did all the classics: human knot, blind relay races, and now: the trust fall.
I folded my arms across my chest and closed my eyes. Leaning back felt counterintuitive, but I knew this was all part of the process. They would catch me. So, I fell into the air and waited for 12 hands to receive me safely.
Twelve hands did receive me, but only for a split second. I crashed through their arms to the ground. “Sorry,” echoed around me as I patted my sore back and bum. They had dropped me! My classmates had dropped me! Trust was harder for me after that.
Trusting God can be hard, too. I love what Corrie Ten Boom says: “Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.” We can trust God because we know the character of God. What do you know about God that is trustworthy?
