STILLNESS IS STRATEGIC
One of the central themes in this lesson is stillness. Yet in a busy world, it can be difficult to understand what stillness looks like in practice. This week’s activity is designed to help you visualize how you use your time and attention each day.
ACTIVITY: THE JAR OF ATTENTION
Find a jar and place 24 marbles, rocks, or small objects inside it. Each one represents an hour in your day.
On a sheet of paper, write a few categories that represent how your time is usually spent. For example:
• Sleep
• Work or school
• Relationships
• Social media or entertainment
• Personal goals (be as specific as you want)
• Time with God
Begin placing the marbles into categories according to how many hours you typically spend in each area.
When all the marbles are placed, step back and observe.
• Do your marbles reflect the life you want to live?
• Is there space for the goals that matter most to you?
• Where might stillness help you become more intentional with your time?
Stillness is strategic because it allows us to step back and notice where our attention is going. When we become aware of how we spend our time, we gain the freedom to realign our lives with what matters most.
