Joseph Takes His Family to Safety in Egypt

Matthew 2:13-23

You already know you should listen for God, but this week is about going deeper; about learning how to really tune in and notice when God is near. Just like there are study habits that help you understand your homework better, there are spiritual habits that help you hear from God more clearly. As you go through this week’s study, you’ll get to practice real ways to listen, notice, and draw closer to God’s presence every day.

TRY THIS

Intentionally seek God’s guidance through one of the ideas in the quote above. Take a mini road trip with your family. Drive around your city, observing nature, listening to the radio, or watching the people around you. What is God saying to you? He’ll always say something. Discuss your thoughts with your family.

DAILY CHALLENGES

• IDENTIFY something that’s missing in your relationship with God, such as Bible reading or consistent prayer. Make a plan to address that at some point every day so that you can see God’s guidance.

• INTERVIEW someone whose relationship with God you admire, and figure out how you can implement that person’s wisdom into your own life. Come up with a specific idea that will help you grow in your relationship with Jesus as you hear from God and obey him more and more.

• SHARE with someone else how God has guided you in the past. Let that person know that God can provide that same kind of guidance to him or her as well. It will be a good reminder to you of God’s guidance, too.
