SCRIPTURE: Deuteronomy 6:5-6

As we come to the end of the week, let’s return to the Key Verse we began with. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts” (Deuteronomy 6:5-6). Having now had the opportunity to think more deeply about what it means for the Commandments to be heard in the context in which they were given, and written on our hearts, how does this text speak to you more richly and fully?

• What new insights have you gained this week from the context in which the Commandments were given, and what was on God’s heart as they were given?

• Where are the growing edges for you as you think about how you have thought about the Ten Commandments and the place they have had in your spiritual life?

• What does this passage suggest about the centrality of God’s love and our response to the love in anything that has to do with the Commandments? Why is this significant? • What questions do you have, or struggle with, when it comes to how we actually relate to and/or talk about the Ten Commandments in the context of knowing that our standing with God is rooted in God’s love and grace?

• As you think back over your reflections this week, what do you sense God inviting you to consider, more fully embrace, or perhaps is nudging you toward? As you prepare to enter more fully into your Sabbath experience this weekend, take a few moments to share with God in prayer what is on your heart.
