• What intentions did God have for giving us commands?

We do not live on isolated islands. If we did, we would not need to have something like the Ten Commandments. We wouldn’t have to mind people around us or care about their safety, their needs, their well-being. But that isn’t how things work. We live in communities; we live in society, surrounded by people from different walks of life, cultures, backgrounds, and families. Because of this, we are called to be mindful of the people around us—to not avoid, but intentionally make their lives better. The Ten Commandments are a guide to bring life to others instead of selfishly harming them. God intends to make us aware of others—how can you do that today?
