• How did teachers of the law fail to respect others?

Some people believe that they deserve respect based on their position instead of how they treat others. Your title does not automatically make you respected by the people around you. While the teachers of the law had power due to their position, they did harm with their authority instead of good. The famous line from Spider-Man’s origin story comes to mind: “With great power comes great responsibility.” When we have the opportunity, resources, and attention to do good, God is hoping we will build people up instead of break them down. When you are allowed to lead, do not sacrifice your empathy because of how comfy the title makes you feel.
