Luke 15:1–32

In Luke 15, Jesus gives us yet another glimpse of what the Great Commission looks like through God’s eyes, as we are invited to join God in sharing the good news. Jesus was apparently a bit more welcoming and inclusive than many in his day were comfortable with, and so in response to that criticism, he told these three stories. Take a few moments to reflect on what these stories tell us about God’s heart (and maybe our own) as we listen in.

• What do the first two verses tell us about how people felt about what Jesus was doing?

• What do the next three stories tell us about how Jesus felt about what he was doing?

• As you think about God seeking out those who don’t know they’re lost, those who know it but don’t know what to do, and those who have made a mess of things and, for a variety of reasons may not fully understand the love and grace of God, what do you find yourself resonating with the most? Why?

• What do you sense God is inviting you to consider, appreciate more fully, or do in response to what you are noticing in these stories?

• Take a few moments to share with God what is on your heart in prayer.
