Exodus 18:21
• Moses appointed only leaders who were trustworthy. Would he be able to appoint you? Explain.
The Center for Creative Leadership published an article recently titled “12 Essential Qualities of Effective Leadership,” in which they, you guessed it, listed the 12 essential qualities of effective leadership. These findings were based on decades of research and experience at thousands of organizations around the globe. Here’s what they argue will make you an effective leader:
1. Self-Awareness
2. Respect
3. Compassion
4. Vision
5. Communication
6. Learning Agility
7. Collaboration
8. Influence
9. Integrity
10. Courage
11. Gratitude
12. Resilience
How many of these would you say you have? How many of these would you say you need to work on?
In Exodus, Moses learns the qualities God is looking for when it comes to leadership:
But select from all the people some capable, honest men who fear God and hate bribes. Appoint them as leaders over groups of one thousand, one hundred, fifty, and ten.
For God, honesty and integrity are invaluable. Would you say you have these traits? How can you work on growing these traits to become a more effective leader in God’s kingdom?
